ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE LAST THREE YEARS
2009
• Eyüboğlu’s community service projects
have been granted Outreach Award by European Council of International Schools.
Eyüboğlu Schools, which had received ECIS Outreach Award for their project titled “A Few Small Steps towards Discovering and Sharing Cultural Opportunities”, last year, have now been granted ECIS Sir Peter Ustinov Outreach Award for their project entitled “Befriending Autistic Children to Help Them Enjoy Social Life”.
Eyüboğlu IB DP and CAS Coordinator Gaye Önol received the award from
Sir Peter Ustinov’s son, sculptor Igor Ustinov at a ceremony held in Hamburg.
The Project which will be carried out during 2009-2010 academic year has also
been granted an ECIS funding of 1750 Euros
• Our 5th grade student Berker Tomaç won THIRD PLACE in Juniors Category of Eyüboğlu XIV. Friendship Chess Tournament organised on 8th and 10th of January 2010.
• İstanbul Children League was organized by Turkey Chess Federation in December.
45 teams from the European and Asian Sides of the city joined the league to constitute İstanbul Team. “Little Stars of Istanbul” team won first place in the European Side - Sarıyer Group and became one of the two teams to represent Istanbul in the national championships. Our students İzge Bayyurt and Berker Tomaç of “Little Stars of Istanbul” team won the right to take part in Istanbul province team which will compete in the national championships.
• Our 9th Grade student Elif Erbil Yıldız won SECOND PLACE in Juniors A Competition and THIRD PLACE in Juniors B Competition in Turkish Clubs Fencing Competition organised on 5th and 6th of December 2009. Elif also won FIFTH PLACE in European Fencing Juniors Curcuit Championship organized on 19th and 20th of December 2009.
• Our 6th Grade student Cengizhan Kuşçu won several standings in D-Smart Cup show jumping competition organised on 26th and 27th of December 2009. His standings are Third and First Place in 70 cm, Third Place in 90 cm, and Second Place in 95 cm.
• Our 6th Grade student Cengizhan Kuşçu won SECOND PLACE in the 90 cm. show jumping competition in Siec Pony Festival organized on 15 November 2009 and THIRD PLACE in the 90 cm. show jumping competition in D-Smart Cup organized on 21 November 2009.
• Two students from Turkey won awards in 11th International Art Competition organized on 24 October 2009 in Czech Republic. One of the winners, our 2nd Grade student Yaman Yazdıç from Kemerburgaz Primary School received a plaque and certificate, and our students Tolga Küçük and Nisan Borahan from Çamlıca Primary School received certificates of attendance.
• Our 6 th grade student Zeynep Aksoy won FIRST PLACE in PII Category of D-Smart 70 cm. Horse Riding Competition organized on 21 and 22 November 2009.
• Our 4th Grade student Melisa Sude Gonca won FIRST PLACE in 50m butterfly style and 50m free style swimming competitions during the “Friendship Tournament” organized by Galatasaray Sports Club.
• Our 4th Grade student won FIRST PLACE in 50m.free style and THIRD PLACE in 50m. butterfly style in the Friendship Tournament Swimming Competitions organized by Galatasaray Sports Club.
• Our 4th Grade student İzge Bayyurt won THIRD PLACE in the juniors category of the 13th Republic Cup Chess Tournament organized by Bosna Sancak Association to honor the Republic Day.
• Our student Cengizhan Kuşçu from Grade 6 won THIRD PLACE in the PIII category National Equestrian Show Jumping Competition which was held on 17-18 October 2009.
• Eyüboğlu Educational Institutions Polyphonic Choir won ONE SILVER and TWO GOLDEN medals in “7th Antonio Vivaldi Choir Competition held within the 13th International Choir Festival organized in Karpenisi, Greece from 24-28 June 2009. The choir won SILVER MEDAL in Children’s and Youth Choir category and GOLDEN MEDALS for Best Stage Performance and Best Communication.
• Our Junior and Juvenile Boys Handball teams came THIRD and our Juvenile Girls Handball team came FOURTH in Eyüboğlu High School Youth and Sports Club 2008-2009 season games.
• Our student İzge Bayyurt from Çamlıca Primary School 3-F class won FIRST PLACE in the junior category of Interschool Chess Tournament organized by Istanbul Province Gendarmerie Command from 5-7 June 2009. In junior teams category, our school team consisting of İzge Bayyurt, Berker Tomaç, Cem Romi, and Fırat İnci won THIRD PLACE.
• Our 6th Grade student Ahmet Can Mert, won THIRD PLACE in the Extramural Istanbul Province Swimming Championships organized at Burhan Felek Swimming Pool on 14-15 May 2009.
• Our 5th Grade student Ege Gülener won THIRD PLACE in the Super Juniors Category of Turkish Clubs Open Cup Fencing Competitions organized at Burhan Felek Dome Hall on 23-24 May 2009.
• Our student Murathan Gür from 10FA class won SECOND place in the KF2 (adults-super) category of the National Carting Championships which took place in İzmit-Körfez on 31 May 2009.
• Our student Berk Durak from 6-B class won TRHIRD place in the KF3 category of the National Carting Championships which took place in İzmit-Körfez on 31 May 2009.
• Our student Göksel Eryılmaz from Ataşehir Primary School 3rd Grade won first place in the Judo Competitions held on May 23rd, 2009.
• Our student Denef Su Tekir from Kemerburgaz Primary School Reception B class won FIFTH PLACE in the Art Competition titled “My Dream Vacation” organized by Lykia World on 22 May 2009.
• Our student Selen Sonbay from Çamlıca Primary School Reception B class won an HONORABLE MENTION award in the Art Competition titled “My Dream Vacation” organized by Lykia World on 22 May 2009.
• The finals of the 4th Mathematics and Science Projects Competition titled “My Work” organized by the Ministry of Education took place in Ankara on 12-13 May 2009. Among 32.000 projects qualified to participate in the finals, two of our students’ projects won FIRST PLACE.

• In the interschool national handball championships organized in İzmir from 12-17 May 2009, our junior boys handball team won THIRD PLACE.
• "VI. National Inteligence Games" organized by "Turkish Inteligence Foundation" was held at Antalya Collage on 10-12 May 2009.
Yasin Güçtekin from Science High School received the first place in the Lycee Category and Utku Gündoğan from Çamlıca Primary School received the fifth place in the Primary School Category.
In the mixed teams competition, the mixed team in which Volkan Soysal from Lycee team and Utku Gündoğan from Primary School team participated, received the first place and Yasin Güctekin's mixed team received the second place.
• Our Çamlıca Primary School students won various prizes in the “Swimming Competitions in Memory of Canan Ateş” organized by Galatasaray Sports Club on 10 May 2009.

• On may 2009 at Maltepe Stadium our students participated in the Outdoor Archery Competition.
Ecem Mutlu received the second place in İstanbul in the ‘Girls Category’ and the third place in the ‘Young Women’s Category in the Archery Competition.
Alper Varış received the first place in Istanbul in the ‘Boys’ Category’ and the third place in the ‘Young Men’s Category’ in the Archery Competition.
Atakan Tekinak received the second place in İstanbul both in the ‘Boys’ Category’ and ‘Young Men’s Category’ in the Archery Competition.
• Our Junior Boys Handball Team won THIRD PLACE in the Extramural Turkish Handball Championships organized in İzmir from 12-17 May 2009.
• The third stage of the 3rd Inter-High School Mathematics Competition organized by Sabancı University was conducted on 8 May 2009 in teams category. Eyüboğlu Science High School won FIRST PLACE.
• Our students competed as individuals and in pairs with a total of 4 projects in the 2nd Science Projects Competition which was organized by İstek Belde Science High School on 2 May 2009. Our 6th Grade student Kaan Yazıcı won SECOND PLACE in the Model-Composition category with his project titled “Legoic Force Microscope” and our 8th Grade student Mert Bayraktar won THIRD PLACE with his project titled “Let’s Dust the Mistakes”.
• On 29 April 2009, the second stage of the 3rd Inter-High School Mathematics Competition, organized by Sabancı University, was held in the individuals categorgy.

• In Istanbul Province Interschool Junior Boys Swimming Competition held from 28-30 April 2009 at Burhan Felek Sports Complex, our student Emirhan Tarım from class 9-E won SEVENTH PLACE in 400m. and 200m. free style; our student Can Elvanlıoğlu from class LH-B won FOURTH PLACE in 200m. backstroke, SIXTH PLACE in 100m. backstroke, and SEVENTH PLACE in 50m. backstroke.
• Our students Berke Önyüksel and Burcu Hatipoğlu from 7-B have been very successful in the Art competition organized by İstanbul Doğançay Primary School. Berke Önyüksel came first and Burcu Hatipoğlu obtained the mension.
• Of the 222 students who participated in “Cahit Arf Mathematics Days 2009” organized by Bilgi University, 30 students who scored higher than 53 points qualified to compete in the finals. Our Science High School student Yasin Güçtekin who scored 95 points qualified to compete in the finals which will take place on 18 April 2009.
• In the “3rd Istanbul Inter-High School Mind Games” competition organized by Hüseyin Avni Sözen Anadolu Lisesi, our Science High School students Yasin Güctekin and Serkan Soysal won SECOND PLACE and SIXTH PLACE respectively in the individuals category.
• In the Mathematics Competition organized by Sabancı University on Monday the 20th of April, 2009, our students Yasin Güçtekin, Serkan Soysal, Alp Turhan Öztürk, and Gökçe Şencan passed the first stage successfully by winning SECOND PLACE (with 260 points), SIXTEENTH PLACE (with 210 points), THIRTY SIXTH PLACE (with 180 points), and THIRTY NINTH PLACE (with 177 points) respectively.
• In the Interschool Istanbul Province Tennis Championships, held from 13-17 April, our junior girls tennis team won FOURTH PLACE and our junior boys tennis team won THIRD PLACE.
• In the 4th Mathematics and Science Projects Competition titled “My Work” organized by the Ministry of Education in Zübeyde Hanım Öğretmen Evi from 13 – 16 April 2009, two of our students’ projects qualified to participate in the finals.
• Zeynep Ezgi Keteloğlu from Class 5-C competed in the team that won SECOND Prize in Istanbul Province Junior Table Tennis Championships held from 28 February – 1 March 2009.
• Eren Eyüboğlu from 12MA Class won FIRST Prize in 90 cm D, C, C+, and B Categories in Kaya Baban Winter League Dressage Competitions held at Istanbul Horse Riding Center on 4-5 April 2009.
• In Istanbul Archery Championships which took place on 7 April 2009, Ecem Mutlu won SECOND PLACE in Compound Bow Junior Female Category individuals. Our team consisting of Onur Dikmen, Ecem Mutlu, and Deniz Yeşiltepe won THIRD PLACE in Compound Bow Juniors Category.
• In the National Fencing Clubs Competitions organized in Balıkesir on 21-22 March 2009, Aras Akmercan came second in Junior Boys Category and Elif Erbil came second in Junior Girls Category.
• Our primary school choir which consists of 1st-5th Grade students participated in Kadıköy Onter-School Choir Days which was organized for the 12th time by KASDAV this year. Our school choir which performed four pieces with outstanding performance came FIRST by winning awards in eight areas. The eight awards were in the areas of Intonation, Homogeneity, and Choir Sound, Interpretation of a Choral Piece with Solo, Musicality – Musical Dynamics, Interpretation of a Choral Piece with Instrumental Accompaniment, Polyphonic Harmony, Pronunciation-Articulation, Clarity, Interpretation of a Modern (Atonal-Inharmonic) Piece, and Promising Soloist.
• In the Drama Festival which took place in Marmara Educational Institutions, Drama in English Club represented our school successfully and won a number of prizes with the fragment that they performed from “The Fiddler on the Roof”.

• In the 7th Mathematics Competition organized by Doğuş University on 4 April 2009, in individuals category, our Science High School students Yasin Güçtekin won FOURTH PLACE, Serkan Soysal won SIXTH PLACE, and Volkan Soysal won SIXTEENTH PLACE.
• In Istanbul Archery Championships which took place on 7 April 2009, Ecem Mutlu won SECOND PLACE in Compound Bow Junior Female Category individuals. Our team consisting of Onur Dikmen, Ecem Mutlu, and Deniz Yeşiltepe won THIRD PLACE in Compound Bow Juniors Category.

• Our project titled “Can liquid crystals that are used as raw material in the production of smart glass be replaced by environment friendly borax” won FIRST PRIZE in the physics component of the research projects competition organized annually by TÜBİTAK.
• Our Junior Girls Handball Team won SECOND PLACE and our High School Girls Handball Team won FOURTH PLACE in Istanbul Province Inter-school Championships.
• Our student Zeynep Bugay from Kemerburgaz Primary School Reception Class B came FIRST and won a computer in the Art Competition titled “Children and the Environment” organized by Mon-a-mi.
• Our Juvenile Boys Handball Team won first place, our Junior Boys Handball Team won second place, and our Juvenile Girls Handball Team won third place in the National Handball Championship Semifinals.
• Our Junior Boys Handball Team came fourth in the Inter-school Istanbul Province Competitions.
• Two groups consisting of students in our Junior Girls Handball Team and Junior Boys Handball Team played in the Istanbul Province Mixed Teams during the Juniors, Province Mixed Team Championships which took place in Antalya from 3-7 February 2009.
The Junior Boys Team in which our students Can Mert, Atılay Morgül, Berksan Kuzu, and Burak Özşenol played won FIRST PLACE and the Junior Girls Team in which our students Duygu Doyran, Ebru Çetinel, Pelin Sarı, and Aylin Biçer played won FOURTH PLACE in the national championship. Our physical education teacher Niyazi Kubat coach the Junior Boys Handball Istanbul Province Mixed Team.
• In the Winter Cup organized in Kemer Country by the Turkish Tennis Federation, our 6th Grade student Yiğitcan Çömlek came THIRD in the 12 year-old boys category.
2008
• A total of 87,777 students of 205 nationalities from 1,857 schools in 130 countries took the IB DP Exams in May 2008. According to the results of the exams, in which the highest diploma grade turned out to be 45, our IB DP graduates Elif Yıldırımcan and Baran Çalışgan have succeeded to score in the top 0.94% with 42 points, and Meneviş Cılızoğlu in the top 1.39% with 41 points.
• Ece Altunmaral, Yunuscan Sevimli, Aybek Karaca, Ege Çamlıbel, Berk Baycan, Ekin Soysal, Furkan Evren, Fırat Akova ,Öykü Altay, and Cem Domaniç participated in the 5th Istanbul Youth Forum that was held at Robert Kolej from 24-28 December 2008. Yunuscan Sevimli was elected by the National Committee to become a member of the Turkish delegation consequent to an interview held in English. Our IB1 FA student Yunuscan Sevimli, won the right to become one of the 8 delegates from Turkey to participate in the 60th International assembly of European Youth Parliament which will take place in Stockholm from 17-26 April 2009.

• From 24 October - 1 November 2008 PTT General Directorate and Turkish Stamp Collecting Associations Federation organized a “National Stamp Exhibition” in Ankara to honor the 85th anniversary of the Republic. Our student Elif Başaran from 8/E classparticipated in the competition with a stamp collection titled "The Legendary National Sovereignty War, the Republic and Atatürk". In Juniors-A Category, she won the Grand Vermey Award.
