Guidance Department
The main aim of the guidance department is to ensure that the students:

become psychologically healthy, happy, self-confident individuals who are at peace with themselves and with others
-
develop healthy relationships with friends and family
-
are self-sufficient in terms of making decisions when faced with challenges in their school life
-
recognize and develop their talents
-
make appropriate career choices.
“Guidance” involves offering to the students, professional assistance and support in personal, social, educational and career terms.
The Guidance Department plays an active role in ensuring that the students adapt well to the school and provides guidance to the parents in this vein. It organizes various seminars to help solve any problems in the areas where students and teachers deem it necessary. The Guidance Department contributes to ensuring that the extracurricular activities and the “class teacher” system fulfill their purposes.
The Guidance Department organizes Career Introduction Days to help the senior students in their efforts to choose a career. It also guides students in their work related to the University Entrance Exams.
The teachers encourage the students to consult the Guidance Department where necessary and they cooperate with the Guidance Department in helping these students.
Getting to know the students individually:
The first step in helping students effectively is getting to know them individually, which involves finding out about their:

needs, interests and expectations
-
self-perception (“Me from five perspectives”, Autobiography, etc.)
-
learning styles (Learning Styles Test)
-
problems (Problem Scanning, Written Interview, Survey on the Reasons for Failure)
-
talents and interests (Self-Evaluation Survey, Career Tendency Survey, Academic Self-esteem Survey, Edwars Personal Preferences Survey)
Individual Guidance and Psychological Consulting:
A range of activities is executed to ensure that the students can handle the problems that may arise at their specific age level (in terms of their relationship with their families, friends, and in terms of their social and academic lives at school). The Guidance Department, through individual guidance and psychological consulting activities, aims to enable the students to become self confident, well-adjusted, psychologically healthy, happy, self-sufficient individuals who are competent in terms of making sound decisions and choices (including and especially the ones related to career).
Career Guidance:
The activities, which aim to help the high school students in their career decisions involve:

providing students with information on University Entrance Exams,
-
developing the most suitable program for the student to get prepared for the university entrance exam
-
monitoring student achievement by means of cooperating with the institutions which offer university exam preparation courses to Eyübo?lu senior students
-
helping students to make career choices that are in line with their potentials, talents and interests by interviewing each student individually and by having discussions with students’ guidance teachers.
Group Work:
A variety of group work activities are executed based on the age level and needs of students. These activities include:

career games which provide hands-on experience and thus guidance to the students who have difficulty in choosing a track or career,
-
group work to develop communication skills of those students who have difficulty in expressing themselves and protecting their personal rights,
-
group work for the students who have problems about planning their time and cannot work effectively and systematically,
-
group work which aim to develop an awareness in the students about exam anxiety and its negative effects on learning.
Seminars:
The Guidance Department organizes seminars on various topics based on the needs and demands of the students. The seminars are offered either by the Guidance Department staff or by some guest speakers who are experts in their fields. Surveys:
Various surveys are conducted by the Guidance Department with a view to evaluating the work that has been carried out throughout the academic year. These surveys also aim to get feedback from the parents abo
ut their views regarding school and to determine the expectations of students.
Guidance Post
The Guidance Department issues the “Guidance Post” to inform parents and students on various topics which fall within its area of expertise. Guidance Post is issued separately and with different topics for Kindergarten, Primary School and High School.
