LISTENING:
  • Listen attentively in small and large group situations.
  • Listen effectively in order to respond to the classroom commands. Identify letter sounds of the alphabet.
  • Listen and respond to simple stories, rhymes, songs and questions.
  • Listen to simple stories in order to pick out or order the events.

SPEAKING:

  • Pronounce words correctly.
  • Give simple instructions.
  • Greet people and exchange personal information.
  • Retell or talk about the events of the stories with the guidance of the teacher.
  • Describe a picture using short sentences with appropriate word order.

READING :

  • Enjoy being read to.
  • Understand that print has meaning.
  • Identify the meaning of the words, simple texts they have read with the guidance of the teacher.
  • Begin to recognize familiar print in the environment.
  • Discriminate between letters, numbers, symbols and words.
  • Match the words and sentences with the given pictures.
  • Join shared-reading, guided-reading, read-aloud and dramatization activities.

WRITING:

  • Begin to show some positive attitude to writing.
  • Complete the missing letters of words they have learnt.
  • Sort out the correct word to make a meaningful/ correct sentence.
  • Write short sentences by looking at sample sentences in the same content.
  • Participate in shared-writing activities.
