CURRICULUM / Grade 2

LISTENING:

  • Listen effectively in order to follow instructions and conversations

  • Listen to stories, poems, rhymes, songs effectively and answer simple questions

  • Pick out main events and sequence them while listening.

SPEAKING:

  • Pronounce words correctly.

  • Participate in story telling, role play ,dramatization, stories and poems.

  • Give simple instructions and messages and respond to the instructions of others.

  • Ask simple questions and give appropriate answers.

  • Use simple sentences with appropriate word order to describe pictures.

WRITING:

  • Begin to show some confidence and some positive attitude to writing.

  • Begin to use simple sentence structures.

  • Begin to write about a range of topics that are personally significant.

  • Write stories by describing the given pictures( 10- 15 sentences).

  • Use capital letters, full stops, commas and question marks.

  • Accurately spell some high frequency words.

  • Recognize and write simple literary forms and structures (letters, poems, riddles,paragraphs) in shared writing activities. ( 50- 75 words)

READING

  • Follow written instructions.

  • Participate in shared-reading, guided-reading and read-aloud situations

  • Begin to make predictions at the beginning, during and at the end of texts.

  • Match questions with their answers * Answer the questions about the author, plot , time ,place,main idea and characters of the stories read.

  • Read and answer questions in different types of genres(letters,poems,stories)
